The global girl group XG has unveiled Something Ain’t Right, the first pre-release track from their second mini album, scheduled for 8 November this year. The song is available on all streaming platforms, and the iconic music video is on the group’s YouTube channel:

Something Ain’t Right brings a retro mood with garage rhythms that highlight the unique personalities of the seven XG members, with an addictive refrain and a variety of sounds hidden in its minimalism. Produced by Jakops, the representative and general producer of XGALX, the track combines an up-tempo 90s-inspired beat with XG’s originality, creating music that makes everyone want to dance.

The music video released today is based on the concept of XG hiding their alien instincts while living everyday lives. It depicts the members of XG in human form suddenly discovering special abilities, leading to chaos in the city. The video highlights unknown anomalies and secrets hidden in everyday life, perfectly aligning with the title Something Ain’t Right:

XG is a seven-member HIPHOP/R&B- inspired girl group consisting of Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria, Maya, and Cocona. They debuted in March 2022 with their first single Tippy Toes under the global entertainment production company XGALX, known for creating artists with a unique worldwide and broadcasting a bold culture worldwide.

In September 2023, they released their first mini album New DNA, which claimed the top spot on the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart. In November of the same year, they held their first solo live concert with a live audience, XG New DNA Showcase In Japan at the Pia Arena MM.

Operating primarily on a global stage, they have performed at numerous major music festivals in countries including the US, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates.

They made history by topping the U.S. Billboard chart Hot Trending Songs Powered by Twitter, the first Japanese artist to do so, and gracing the cover of the US magazine Billboard as the first Japanese girl group. The name XG represents “Xtraordinary Girls,” aiming to empower people from various backgrounds worldwide through their unconventional style of music and performances.

The second mini-album, set to be released on 8 November, comes about a year after their previous work. It expresses XG’s attempt to connect more closely with the world through music. When a new presence emerges, people experience fear and curiosity, leading to a psychological process of awe. This album aims to provide a sense of awe and a special experience of being with XG’s music in everyday life.

XG is currently on its first world tour, XG 1st World Tour ‘The First Howl’, performing in about 30 countries and regions worldwide, including Asia, North America, the UK, and Europe.

Their previous work Woke Up, with its powerful rap performance and unconventional structure, topped the US YouTube trending chart and maintained the top spot on the Global Japan Songs Excl. Japan chart for seven consecutive weeks.
